Where do the happiest people live?
What makes a country happy? While the answer to this question can be quite subjective, the United Nations measures happiness of countries using variables such as GDP per capita, life expectancy, freedom to make life choices and trust or absence of corruption among others. Based on this, it publishes the World Happiness Report annually that ranks countries by their happiness score (scale of 0 to 10). This infographic provides a snapshot of the happiest and saddest countries in the world as per the 2016 rankings and the leading factors due to which countries such as Denmark and Switzerland are the happiest and those such as Burundi and Syria are the least happy.
